Full Description:

Working Soft Clay Workshop Instructor: Gay Smith Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 4-5, 9:00am-4pm, Studio 3 Members: $75 / Non-members: $100 We will see and discuss techniques for alternating the forms and surfaces of freshly thrown pots in this demonstration workshop. Squaring, fluting, and faceting will be some of the possibilities shown. A lively, spontaneous and animated quality can be embodied in the pots made utilizing these techniques, reflecting the process using wet clay. Possible topics of discussion include raw glazes and single firing, and firing in a soda kiln, including how to utilize the techniques demonstrated in your own work. Slides will also be shown.
