Geniece Johnson, CMC was appointed City Clerk-Treasurer in 1997 after serving as Deputy City Clerk for four years. A native of Baldwin County, she graduated from Foley High School in 1985 and received a B.A. in Business Finance in 1991 from the University of South Alabama. She is very active with Order of Eastern Star, Volunteer Action, Life Community Church, and Marlow Volunteer Fire Department. She is married to Kenneth E. Johnson.
Fairhope Mayor, Tim Kant, is no stranger to Fairhope. Mayor Kant was hired in 1983 as the City Horticulturist and in 1985 he was named Public Works Superintendent. In that capacity he oversaw many of the projects that have made Fairhope into the unique and beautiful community it has become today.
The department maintains three stations and a training facility, the only one of its kind on the Eastern Shore. The Fairhope Police Department is located adjacent to City Hall on Section Street in Fairhope. The Fairhope Police Department is comprised of a chief of police, nearly 30 sworn officers and numerous support personnel. The police department moved to its existing location in May of 2002. The new building is quadruple the size of the prior police station, increasing both the administrative and jail facilities.
